Jonny Gomes’ three-run homer completed a five-run rally in the 7th inning and the Cincinnati Reds stayed in first place in the Central Division with a 6-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers.  Gomes’  homer off of Todd Coffey sent the Reds to their 8th victory in the last 9 games.

Cincinnati moved into first place on Sunday.  The Reds haven’t been there this deep into the season since 2006.

Coffey had been one of the Brewers more reliable relievers, but he surrendered 5 runs to spoil a good outing for starter Yovani Gallardo.  Gallardo worked 6-innings, allowed 1 run and 4 hits.

Corey Hart homered twice for the Brewers in the loss, who set a season high with a 7-game losing streak.  They’ll close out the 2-game series with a morning start this morning (11:35am).  Manny Parra gets the start for the Brewers.
