The offense is sputtering and the pitching is still handing out free passes. That combination gave the Milwaukee Brewers their 4th straight loss and 6th out of 8 games to start the season. They fell to the Cincinnati Reds 6-1 last night at Miller Park.
Starter Manny Parra allowed just 3 hits in six innings, but the big blow was Jerry Hairston Jr.'s 2-run homer in the 3rd. That home run snapped a 1-1 tie and carried the Reds to the victory. Parra's only real blemmish was the 4-walks he issued, part of the teams 7-walk effort.
Cincinnati starter Bronson Arroyo allowed just four hits and one run in 6 1/3 innings for the win.
J.J. Hardy gave the Brewers their only run, a solo shot in the 2nd inning. The Brewers managed just 5-hits total. Two of the four hits came from J.J. Hardy.
Braden Looper pitches the final game of the series and the homestand for the Brewers tonight. He'll face Micah Owings, making his first start for the Reds.
