The Milwaukee Brewers stranded 12 base runners last night, falling to the Florida Marlins 3-2 in Miami, dropping 3 of 4 in the series.

Josh Johnson extended his streak of innings without allowing an earned run to 31 before finally allowing one in the 7th inning.

The loss spoiled the return of lefty Chris Capuano to the mound.  Capuano was making his first start since September of 2007 after a second Tommy John surgery.  Capuano went 3 2/3 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits and he’s glad it’s over.

The Brewers open a 3-game weekend series in St. Louis against the Cardinals.

Manny Parra will start in place of right hander Dave Bush in the series finale against the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday night.  Brewers manager Ken Macha said the move has nothing to do with performance, but more to do with pitching lefties against the Cardinals and giving Parra another chance.  Parra went 2-1 with a 2.33 ERA in five starts against the Cardinals last season.
