The Milwaukee Brewers bullpen was awfully charitable on Sunday and it led to a 4-3, 11-inning loss to the Kansas City Royals at Miller Park.
The Brewers offensively were 0 for 9 with runners in scoring position, and the pitching staff added four clostly walks. Three of the four Kansas City runs were scored by runners that reached base via the walk. The Royals saw their 4-game losing streak come to an end, while the Brewers 5-game win streak is now history.
Yovani Gallardo allowed just 1-run through 7-innings in his second Major League start. He left with a 2-1 lead. But that lead wouldn't last. Derrick Turnbow walked the leadoff man in the 8th and the Royals turned that into a pair of runs and a 3-2 lead.
Corey Hart tied the game for the Brewers with a solo home run in the 9th, his 10th of the season. It extended his hitting streak to 11-straight games.
The Royals then won it in the 11th when Jose Capellan issued a pair of walks and a single and Chris Spurling came on to walk in the game winner.
Kevin Mench and Tony Graffanino both had two hits for the Brewers, who continue their homestand tonight with the first of three against the Houston Astros.
