The Milwaukee Brewers today named Ron Roenicke the team’s 18th manager.  Roenicke signed a 2-year contract through the 2012 season with a club option for 2013. 

The 54 year old Roenicke will manage in the Major Leagues for the first time.  He has spent the last 11 seasons in the Angels organization, including the last five as bench coach under Mike Scioscia. 

Roenicke owns a 346-283 career record as a minor league manager in the Dodgers and Giants organizations.  He played eight seasons with Los Angeles, Seattle, San Diego, San Francisco, Philadelphia and Cincinnati, hitting .238 with 17 homers and 113 rbi’s in 527 games. 

The Brewers have called a news conference for 1:30pm today to introduce Roenicke to the media.
