Michael Cuddyer lined a 2-run double in the eighth and Jeremy Guthrie pitched seven solid innings to earn his second win of the season, a 4-1 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park on Sunday.

The Brewers had a chance to rebound in the 8th inning, but Ryan Braun popped out, Aramis Ramirez lined out and Corey Hart struck out to end the threat.

The Brewers wasted another solid outing from pitcher Yovani Gallardo who allowed 1-run in 7-innings of work.  He gave up 6-hits, struck out 8 and while walking only 1.

The Brewers ended up 1 for 8 with runners in scoring position and are hitting just .224 heading into tonight’s series opener against the Houston Astros.

 
 

Ryan Braun was recognized before the game for winning the National League

MVP.  He was handed his MVP award by former 2-time Brewer MVP, Robin

Yount and his Silver Slugger award by team owner Mark Attanasio.

 

Zach Greinke pitches tonight for the Brewers as they open a series against the

Houston Astros at Miller Park.

The Brewers only run came in the fourth inning when Mat Gamel singled home Ryan Braun to tie the game at 1.
