Down 5-1, the Milwaukee Brewers rebounded to knock off the Washington Nationals 6-5 at Miller Park on Thursday night.

Scooter Gennett, who has just been recalled from Class AAA Colorado Springs, singled to left to drive home Shane Peterson from third with the go-ahead run.

Will Smith (2-0) pitched a scoreless 8th to earn the win.  Smith had just returned from a six-game suspension from Major League Baseball for being caught with a foreign substance on his arm.

Francisco Rodriguez tossed a scoreless ninth for his 13th save in as many opportunities.

Gerardo Parra tied the game with a solo home run in the seventh.  The Brewers have won five out of their last seven games.

Mike Fiers (2-6, 4.06 ERA) pitches game two for the Brewers tonight, facing Washington’s Jordan Zimmerman (5-3, 3.18 ERA).
