roster is set with opening day next Monday drawing closer.

The Brewers optioned reliever Rob Wooten and utility player Elian Herrera to Class AAA Nashville, and left-hander Tom Gorzelanny will open the season on the disabled list.

Among the players that made the 25-man roster is Rule 5 draft pick Wei-Chung Wang.  Wang made the jump from rookie ball and will be used by the Brewers in long relief.

The 21-year old Wang must be kept on the Brewers roster all season or be offered back to the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Tyler Thornburg also made the roster but will pitch out of the bullpen.  He had a 5.74 ERA in seven spring appearances.  Non-roster left-handed pitcher Zach Duke also made the 25-man squad.

Jeff Bianchi captured the lone utility infield job after hitting .362 in 47 spring at-bats.

Starting rotation

Manager Ron Roenicke also unveiled his 5-man starting rotation to start the season.  Following opening day starter Yovani Gallardo is Kyle Lohse, Matt Garza, Marco Estrada and Wily Peralta.

Peralta gave up just 1-run in 6 1/3 innings yesterday in a 5-4 loss to the Giants.  Peralta pitched well and added his second home run of the spring.  The Brewers will face the Cleveland Indians today.
