Jeff Suppan made his 2010 debut with the Milwaukee Brewers.  Suppan wasn’t perfect, but he held his team in the game, working 5 innings and allowing 4 runs on 6 hits with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts.  The Brewers went on to beat the Cubs 8-6, salvaging the final game of the series.

Suppan said it was definitely good to get that first start out of the way.  He said his job is to keep the game close.

Suppan did give up two of the Cubs three home runs.  Derek Lee hit a solo shot and Marlon Byrd clubbed a 2-run homer.

Ryan Braun and Casey McGehee each homered and drove in three runs for the Brewers.

The Brewers improved to 4-5 with the win.  They’ll continue their road trip at Washington against the Nationals tonight.
