The Milwaukee Brewers activated second baseman Rickie Weeks from the disabled list on Monday and sent rookie outfielder Tony Gwynn Jr. back to Triple A Nashville.
Brewers manager Ned Yost said the Brewers expect Gwynn to develop into an everyday outfielder in the big leagues and felt it was better to get more time in the minors, rather than the long periods of inactivity he'd get on the Brewers bench.
Gwynn was hitting .301 in 83 official at bats with no homers, 8 rbi's and 6 stolen bases.
Weeks collected two hits in his return to the lineup last night.
