The Milwaukee Brewers acquired some bullpen help for closer Jim Henderson, signing veteran Francisco Rodriguez to a one-year free agent deal with $3.25 million with an opportunity to earn another $550,000 in incentives.

After signing Rodriguez, the Brewers designated reliever Donovan Hand for assignment to make rook on the 40-man roster.

The Brewers signed Rodriguez last April for the second time.  After a short stint in the minors, Rodriguez replaced John Axford and went 1-1 with a 1.09 ERA and 10 saves in 10 chances.

The Brewers then traded Rodriguez to Baltimore for third-base prospect Nick Delmonico.

Rodriguez has 304 career saves in 12 Major League seasons.  He set the single-season record high of 62 in 2008 while with the Angels.
