The Milwaukee Brewers signed their top draft pick, outfielder Matt LaPorta from Florida on Monday.
The 7th overall pick in the draft gets a $2-million signing bonus, plus other financial considerations.
LaPorta took batting practice with the Brewers at Miller Park and is expected to report to extended spring training in Phoenix. LaPorta will likely start his minor league assignment after that with single "A" West Virginia.
