Nobody expected the Milwaukee Brewers to roll over the Chicago Cubs like they did the Pirates in a 3-game series last week.  But coming off a 3-game sweep of Pittsburgh and outscoring the Pirates 36-1, the Brewers were on a roll.

Unfortunately, the Brewers starting pitching continued to struggle and they ran into some pretty good pitching by Cubs and were swept in a 3-game series at Wrigley Field.  Chicago outscored the Brewers in the series 25-4 and finished it off with a 12-2 win at Miller Park yesterday.

Nothing went right for Brewers starter Dave Bush who pitched just 3 2/3 innings, allowing 9 runs on 10 hits, including all four of the Cubs home runs.

Kosuke Fukudome, Tyler Colvin, Geovany Soto and Derek Lee all homered for the Cubs, and Ryan Theriot had 5 hits to complete the 3-game sweep.  The Cubs have taken 5 of 6 from the Brewers so far this season.

Randy Wells worked 7 innings and allowed 2 runs to pick up the win for the Cubs.  He’s 2-0.  Bush fell to 1-1 with the loss.

Brewers manager Ken Macha said 18 games in, the Brewers aren’t getting the pitching they hoped for and hopefully it’ll turn around.

The Brewers open a 3-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates tonight.
