Ben Sheets suffered just his second loss (9-2) of the season, giving up all five runs in seven innings of work.
Milwaukee finished the first 81 games with a 44-37 record, the second best mark at the midway point under Ned Yost. Yost's best first half came last year with the Brewers when they went 47-34.
The Brewers start the second half of the season tonight in Phoenix against the Arizona Diamondbacks. They're 4 1/2 games behind the front-running Chicago Cubs, who have dropped four straight themselves.
Dave Bush (4-7) pitches for Milwaukee while former Brewers lefty, Doug Davis (2-3) goes for the Diamondbacks.
