The Milwaukee Brewers attempt to pick up their first sweep of the season fell short on Wednesday night. Pittsburgh’s Charlie Morton worked 7 1/3 innings, allowing just three hits in a 2-0 Pirate victory over the Brewers at PNC Park.
The Brewers still took 2 of 3 from the Pirates and finished their 9-game road trip with a 5-4 record.
Kyle Lohse allowed 10 hits in 6 1/3 innings, but battled to keep his team in it. Lohse gets credit for a quality start, but still fell to 3-7 with a 6.27 ERA.
Pedro Alvarez clubbed a solo home run in the second inning for the Pirates.
The Brewers return home to host Washington in the first of a four game series tonight. Matt Garza (4-7, 5.09 ERA) pitches for the Brewers. Tanner Roark (2-2, 3.16 ERA) goes for the Nationals.
