Brandon Knight dealt to the Phoenix Suns
The Milwaukee Bucks traded guard Brandon Knight in a 3-team deal just before the NBA’s trade deadline this afternoon.
Knight goes to the Phoenix Suns while the Bucks get 6’6 point guard Michael Carter-Williams from Philadelphia and rookie guard Tyler Ennis and center Miles Plumlee from the Phoenix Suns.
Carter-Williams was the NBA rookie of the year last season after being drafted No. 11 overall y the 76ers.
The Suns were looking for a point guard after sending their own point man Goran Dragic to Miami just a few minutes earlier.
The 23-year-old Knight will be a restricted free agent this summer. He averaged 17.8 points and 5.4 assists for the Bucks. He was in his second season with the Bucks after being acquired along with Khris Middleton in the Brandon Jennings deal with Detroit in July 2013.
Carter-Williams was averaging 15 points, 6.2 rebounds and 7.4 assists in 41 games for the 76ers this season.
Ennis has played only eight games with the Suns this season and nine for the Bakersfield Jam in the NBA D-League. He averaged 18.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists with Bakersfield.
Plumlee averaged 4.3 points and 5.1 rebounds for the Suns, making 28 starts out of 54 total appearances. Last season, he started 79 of 80 games and averaged 8.1 points and 7.8 rebounds.
The deal is one that keeps the Bucks eye and focus on the future.
The Bucks will have to make a pair of roster moves to get to the league minimum of 15 players. If they finish the buyout of Larry Sanders’ contract, that would count as one of the two.
