With the 8th pick in Thursday night's NBA Draft, the Milwaukee Bucks took West Virginia's Joe Alexander. The 6'8, 230 pound forward is the guy many experts had the Bucks taking. He averaged 17 points and 6 rebounds last season for the Mountaineers.
GM John Hammond says he was a bit nervous that they wouldn't get Alexander because of all the reports saying the team wanted him, which could have caused someone to trade up ahead of them if they had interest.
Hammond says Alexander is an athletic player who can do lots of things on the floor. He thinks Alexander has lots of upside to improve and he will help the Bucks this season.
Alexander says that he is happy to be a Buck and will work hard to get better. He credits his coach last season, Bob Huggins for helping him get to where he is at today.
In the 2nd round last night, Milwaukee took UCLA forward Luc Richard Mbah a Moute.
