Former Marquette and Madison Memorial star Wesley Matthews had a game-high 26 points, as the Portland Trailblazers defeated the Milwaukee Bucks Tuesday night in overtime, 120-115.
Despite the two team’s opposite trajectories this season, Portland had its hands full with Milwaukee. The lead changed hands 23 times and neither club ever had a double-digit lead.
Portland (44-24), currently the No. 5 seed in the Western Conference playoff standings, led 52-47 at halftime. But after an 0-7 start from the floor in the first two quarters, Milwaukee forward Khris Middleton got hot in the third quarter, hitting three of his four shots en route to an 18-point game.
Milwaukee (13-55) was led by Brandon Knight’s 24 points and eight rebounds. Guard Ramon Sessions chipped in 23 points off the bench.
The Bucks will play at Golden State Thursday night.
