Governor Doyle predicts the state is in for tough times in the near future, as his estimate of a state budget shortfall grows.

Last month administration officials said the budget will likely be short $400 million, but now the Governor says that number may be closer to $500 million.

Doyle says making up for a half billion dollar hole will require serious cuts. State agencies have already been directed to make about $200 million in cuts, but the Governor says more will be needed.

Doyle says the legislature will also need to pass a budget repair bill to make up for some of the shortfall.
