Frigid temperatures are nothing new to Wisconsin. We just haven't felt them in a while for such a stretch.

Greg Davis with the National Weather Service in Sullivan says the cold air mass starts moving through tomorrow and by Monday lows will be around 15 below zero in the northwest and around zero in the southeast.

After a spring-like December influenced by El Nino, the sudden arctic blast is really just bringing us back to normal. Davis says El Nino is fading and the ocean waters are starting to cool off.

And while it will be cold enough for most people, we won't be breaking any records. Davis says it's been known to get as low as 50 below zero in the northwest this time of year.

Health officials warn the sub zero temperatures can be dangerous especially if there's any wind. As for outdoor activities. The Badger State Games will keep running through the weekend in Wausau. The 50-k run at Kettle Moraine State Forest is still on but the cold weather has cancelled one event. The Stevens Point Polar Plunge.
