A man accused of burglarizing an Oneida County residence where a couple was murdered has been bound over for trial. Thirty-eight-year-old Mark Spietz of Kaukauna waived his preliminary hearing Tuesday. Oneida County Judge Michael Bloom ruled there was enough evidence to proceed to trial.
Spietz’s bond was modified from $2,500 dollars cash to a $2,500 dollar signature bond. He is charged with three counts of burglary, theft, and using someone else’s identification to obtain money. Investigators said all of the stolen property has been recovered. An arraignment hearing has been scheduled for December 28th in Rhinelander.
Spietz is accused of breaking into the home where murder victims Thomas and Jennifer Ayers lived, and where they were allegedly killed by Jennifer’s daughter by her first marriage, 17-year-old Ashlee Martinson. The Martinson case has a status conference coming up December 11th with the same judge. She remains jailed awaiting trial.
