The Oneida County Sheriff’s Department says a suspected burglar is in custody, after he got caught in the snow while trying to flee from officers.

Deputies made contact with a suspect they believed was involved in several burglaries in a hotel parking lot in Rhinelander Tuesday morning. The male suspect fled in a vehicle, leading officers on a chase through Rhinelander that ended after the suspect got stuck.

Oneida County Sheriff Grady Hartman says the scene was tense and dangerous, as 51-year-old Robert Flick held a gun to his own head as officers were about to take him into custody. Hartman says it took officers time and negotiating skills to get Flick to put the weapon down. Flick was then taken into custody without further incident.
