The Milwaukee Brewers had already won the series, but they missed a shot at the sweep, falling to the Cubs 6-3 at Wrigley Field on Thursday afternoon.
Dave Bush worked 5 1/3 innings and walked a career high 5 batters as he struggled with his command. Bush also allowed 6-hits, including the games only home run to Cubs third baseman Aramis Ramirez.
The Brewers led 2-0 early, scoring twice in the first when Rickie Weeks ran over Cubs catcher Geovany Soto on a play at the plate. Soto was standing in the baseline at the time. The contact allowed both Weeks and Tony Gwynn Jr. to score.
Ryan Dempster, a closer in Chicago last season, got his first victory as a starter since April of 2005. Closer Kerry Wood also recorded his first career save.
The Brewers return to Miller Park for their home opener today against the San Francisco Giants. Carlos Villanueva pitches for Milwaukee against Jonathan Sanchez.
