Last season, the Wisconsin Badgers went into the NCAA Tournament without big man Brian Butch (pictured). Butch suffered an elbow injury late in the season that sidelined him for the NCAA Tournament.
It was a disappointing season for the Badgers, who had such high hopes, but bowed out in the second round of the Tournament, losing to UNLV.
Butch is back this season, coming off a season in which he was named all Big Ten by both the coaches and the media. He's anxious to get things underway and makeup for time lost.
The 3rd-seeded Badgers (29-4) face 14th seeded Cal State Fullerton (24-8) in the opening round from the Quest Center in Omaha, Nebraska.
The Badgers are 17-12 in the NCAA Tournament, 8-6 under coach Bo Ryan. They're also just one of eight schools making its 10th straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
Wisconsin leads the nation in scoring defense at 53.8points per game.
The Titans are in the field for the first time in 30 years (1978). Their last NCAA Tournament team played into the Elite Eight before losing a 1-game game to a Sidney Moncrief-led Arkansas team.
All 11 players on the Cal State Fullerton roster are transfers. The Titans rank 5th nationally in scoring at 82.7 points a game and 25th in 3-pointers per game at 8.8.
