A New Richmond School district bus driver is suspended after police say she drove children to school while intoxicated. New Richmond Police Chief Mark Samelstad says the 35 year-old driver was on her normal route for the New Richmond Schools when she hit a car in a residential area at about 7:28 Thursday morning.
No one was hurt, but driver Billie Jean O'Keefe's supervisor contacted police who gave her a breathalyzer at the scene and then had blood test done at an area hospital. Samelstad says O'Keefe had a prohibited blood alcohol level of above .04. O'Keefe was booked into the Saint Croix County Jail and faces D.U.I. charges. The bus company says she's been suspended.
