A 38-year-old man with a history of mental health issues is charged with killing his mother Monday at their home in the Calumet County town of Harrison. District Attorney Ken Kratz says Brian Ecklund made his initial court appearance Tuesday afternoon on a charge of first-degree intentional homicide. Kratz says Ecklund had been committed to a hospital in the past for mental health issues. He says the victim's daughter called the sheriff's department after she couldn't contact her mother, 56-year-old Cynthia Bock.
Deputies found her body in the kitchen area of the home. Court records indicate Bock had multiple stab wounds, and that deputies found four bloody knives in the kitchen area. Ecklund told investigators he killed his mother because she made him take pills, go to church and locked him up in a hospital.
