Mike Cameron's big debut and the rest of the Milwaukee Brewers getting their bats going might be a coincidence, but who's complaining?
Cameron finished serving his 25-game suspension and was penciled in the Brewers lineup for the very first time on Tuesday night. He had a three hit night to help lead the Brewers to a 10-7 win over the Chicago Cubs. Cameron got going right away, doubling off the top of the left field wall in the first inning.
Three other Brewers, Bill Hall, Corey Hart and J.J. Hardy also tallied three-hits each and the Brewers tallied 17 hits on the night. That's the largest hit tally since a 19-hit night last August against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Ben Sheets picked up the win to improve to 4-0, but he was certainly rusty. Sheets issued a career high 7 walks while striking out two in five innings.
Eric Gagne pitched a scoreless ninth for his 8th save.
** Last night's game was delayed 13 minutes before the top of the third, when plate umpire Jerry Crawford went to the hospital because he was feeling ill. The game was finished with a three man umpiring crew.
