The wife of Vice President Joe Biden wraps up a three-day tour of the Badger State. Dr. Jill Biden campaigned in Oshkosh Saturday, and was in Kenosha, Waukesha, and Sun Prairie Sunday. This morning – the first day of early voting – she appeared in Madison and Appleton.
During her Kenosha stop at a small Obama For America field office, she urged party loyalists to vote early and then help convince others to go to the polls to re-elect the president. Biden said “even if Joe weren’t running as the vice president” she would still be volunteering for the campaign, as there are “clear choices” between the candidates.
The lifelong teacher touted the Obama administration’s treatment of veterans including expansion of education benefits within the G.I. Bill and giving tax credits to businesses who hire vets. She also talked of women’s rights being potentially compromised under Mitt Romney.
A lone protester stood on a nearby street corner with a sign that read, “Joe Biden lies, and we’re not laughing.”
The wife of Republican V.P. nominee and 1st District Congressman Paul Ryan met with her party faithful on Saturday. At a Racine Victory Center, Janna Ryan was accompanied by U.S. Senator Ron Johnson and Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus, a Kenosha native.
The Journal Times reports the GOP surrogates encouraged early voting. “If we win Racine County, we win Wisconsin,” Priebus said. “We win Wisconsin and it’s lights out to (President) Barack Obama.”
Wisconsinites on both sides of the aisle are gearing up for the tonight’s third and final presidential debate with the campaigns holding viewing parties across the state.
