Campgrounds in Wisconsin are expected to be packed Memorial Day weekend. A DNR parks official says in parts of the great outdoors cell phones may not get reception, so he recommends "old fashioned" methods of accountability. Dave Benish, Camping Program Manager for the Bureau of Parks and Recreation, recommends hikers should let those who stay behind where they will be hiking and when they plan on returning.

To be prepared he says you can find out ahead of time from park staff where the nearest hospitals are.

Benish also reminds you that with concerns of the Emerald Ash Borer there are strict firewood laws. You are not allowed to bring firewood from more than 50 miles away and wood from outside of Wisconsin is prohibited.

But he says the most important thing is getting to the park safely, be mindful of holiday traffic and deer on the roads.
