For the first time, Wisconsin’s do-not-call list for telemarketers will soon have more cell phones than landlines. Starting in January, 51 percent of the phone numbers which are off-limits to sales pitches will be cell phone numbers.

State consumer protection administrator Janet Jenkins said she knew this day would be coming. It’s yet another sign that more people are ditching their landlines and using mobile phones exclusively.

Cell phones were not included when the do-not-call list was first created in 2003. Lawmakers agreed to add mobile phones to the list in 2008.
