Central Wisconsin residents are digging out after a foot of snow shut down schools, sent numerous cars into ditches and forced overtime for highway crews. Waupaca saw 14.6 inches of snow, Wautoma saw 4 inches, 11 in Stevens Point and 9-and-a-half in Shawano.
The clean up the snow is keeping snow plow drivers busy. Waupaca County Highway Commissioner Dean Steingraber had crews out during the storm Sunday but pulled most off the roads last night but some a few of the county highways are constantly being monitored.
Steingraber thinks it will be early afternoon before plows will get to the township roads. So he advises patience with “repeat” storm expect. Another two-to-four inches is in the forecast for the today and tonight with continuing strong northeast winds.
Steingraber expects his plows to be back out Tuesday morning by four o’clock.
