Authorities in Waupaca and Portage Counties are investigating two weekend drownings. Early Sunday morning, a 19-year-old Neenah man died in a man-made lake in Town of Waupaca. The man apparently tried to swim to shore from a raft but experienced difficulty and went under, according to Waupaca County Sheriff’s officials.

Officers arrived within eight minutes and dive teams arrived shortly thereafter. His body was discovered in 8 to 10 feet of water just 50 feet from shore.

On Sunday around 5:30 in the afternoon, a 34-year-old man fishing on the New-Page paper mill dam, in the Town of Lindwood, fell into the Wisconsin River. Dive teams discovered his body a few hours later.
