A rural Portage County man is charged with killing his ex-girlfriend in a jealous rage early Saturday. Wally Lassa is accused of forcing Robin Dunwoody into the trunk of his car then shooting her twice at close range as she tried to get away.

The shooting happened in the parking lot of a west-side Wausau nursing home where Dunwoody worked.

Marathon County District Attorney Jill Falstad says Lassa confessed to police to committing the crime. He was apparently upset that Dunwoody had broken up with him late last year. Lassa told police that if he couldn't have Dunwoody, nobody would.

The 55-year-old is charged with false imprisonment and first degree intentional homicide. He's jailed on a million dollar cash bond pending a preliminary hearing January 14th.
