Charges have been filed against two men accused of allowing a dog to attack an 18 year-old man as a way of interrogating him about an alleged theft late last week. Richard R. Lisko of Campbellsport is accused of ordering his dog to bite the 18 year-old, Joel Kennedy, Jr. when Kennedy denied the theft. The teenager’s 43 year-old father, Joel E. Kennedy of New Berlin, is accused of having helped Lisko tie his son up and hang him off of a deck while the dog attacked.
The men made initial appearances via video conference from the Fond du Lac County jail on Thursday, before Circuit Court Judge Peter Grimm.
According to court records, the 58 year-old Lisko has been charged with felony counts of false imprisonment, injury by negligent use of a weapon, bail jumping, and substantial battery. Kennedy is charged with three felonies including false imprisonment, injury by negligent use of a weapon, and substantial battery.
Judge Grimm set bail at $100,000 for Lisko and $50,000 for Kennedy, refering to both men as flight risks. Lisko’s attorney said the high bail wasn’t necessary because his wheelchair-bound client is a recluse with nowhere to go.
A September 14th preliminary hearing is scheduled before Judge Richard Nuss in Fond du Lac County Court.
