A New London makes his initial appearance in Waupaca County Circuit Court on charges that he killed a man four years ago. 35-year-old Chad Magolski is charged with First-Degree Intentional Homicide in the death of 77-year-old James Park.
Park was found in his New London apartment in December of 2007 with multiple stab wounds to the neck, chest, and abdomen.
Magolski rented another apartment in the same building. State prosecutors say Magolski was late in paying his rent that December, and allegedly stabbed Park knowing that he carried what’s described as a “wad of cash” on him.
The complaint says DNA evidence on a $50 bill and a bar of soap ties Magolski to the murder.
A one million dollar cash bond was ordered for Magolski, who has three prior battery convictions and a conviction for failure to report to jail. He faces life in prison if convicted of Park’s murder.
A preliminary hearing in the case is set for June 30th.
