Prosecutors have charged Annette Morales-Rodriguez with intentional homicide and intentional homicide against an unborn child. The criminal complaint describes the 33-year-old Milwaukee woman of faking a pregnancy for months after unsuccessfully trying to have a baby with her boyfriend.
When the supposed due date drew near, Morales-Rodriguez would drive around looking for a pregnant woman. On October 6, she allegedly offered 23-year-old Maritza Ramirez-Cruz, a stranger, a ride home from a social services agency.
Morales-Rodriguez stopped at her home with the victim with the excuse she needed to change shoes. It was there where she allegedly hit Ramirez-Cruz, in the head with a baseball bat, choked her, then duct taped her mouth and nose along with putting a plastic bag over her head. In an attempt to duplicate a process she’d seen on the Discovery Channel, Morales-Rodriguez used an exacto knife to cut out the child via C-Section, then put some of the victim’s blood on her body to make it seem as if she gave birth.
After moving the body to the basement and cleaning up some of the blood she called 911, Police then discovered the body. Morales Rodriguez was taken to the hospital claiming she had given birth but doctors determined that she had not.
