Parishioners in Chippewa Falls are hoping police will find whoever’s responsible for breaking into their church and stealing collection money. Father William Felix at Saint Charles Borromeo Church says he’s not angry but sickened that someone took the money that was locked up inside his church.

“The parish is meant obviously for the good, for the good of the community and for the work of God. For someone to do that, it must take a pretty cold heart,” says Felix.

Felix says more than $10,000 was taken sometime late Sunday or Monday morning after six Christmas services.

That weekend ushers had been commenting on how generous people were with their contributions. Much of the funds were for an orphanage.

Felix hopes to recover the money through insurance and generous parishioners and others who wish to give.
