Nearly three years after he was convicted in the Capitol caucus scandal, former state Senate Majority Leader Chuck Chvala can practice law again.

The Supreme Court reinstated the Madison Democrat's license today. Jay Heck of the watchdog group Common Cause in Wisconsin says Chvala has done everything he was supposed to do to get the license back. Chvala pleaded guilty to two felony counts and served nine months in jail on work release.

In the caucus scandal, legislative leaders were convicted of running political campaigns at taxpayer expense. One of the them, former Assembly Speaker Scott Jensen, had his conviction overturned and is awaiting a new trial.
