A 22-year-old Pardeeville man was killed Thursday when a co-worker at a Portage Subway restaurant shot him at least five times. Portage police Detective Lieutenant Mark Hahn described the shooting of David M. Johnson by 19-year-old Jordan M. Scott of rural Rio as cold-blooded.

“Our suspect came up specifically, we feel at that time, to shoot and kill David Johnson,” Hahn said. The Wisconsin State Journal reports the shooting took place just after 9:00 Thursday morning outside the Portage Subway where both men worked. “Scott knew when Johnson was supposed to be at work today and he confronted him when he arrived,” Hahn said. Scott was taken into custody less than an hour later by police in Columbus.

Hahn said Johnson and Scott had been involved in a heated argument last week at the restaurant, but had worked together since then. Johnson, a 2009 Portage High School graduate, was described as well-liked and intelligent. Hahn said he had worked at Subway since he was a teenager. Scott had worked there about two years.
