After two unproductive seasons with the Green Bay Packers, it appeared that Breno Giacomini’s days could be numbered in Green Bay.  But not so, according to head coach Mike McCarthy.

McCarthy said Giacomini is a young developing offensive lineman that hasn’t had much of a chance yet.

Giacomini is a bit of a late bloomer.  He played just one full college season at tackle after converting from tight end.  He was active for just two games his rookie season and one game last season after off-season ankle surgery.

The Packers expect Giacomini to compete for the right tackle job with Mark Tauscher.

Giacomini did get a few first-team reps in place of Mark Tauscher on Wednesday.

Giacomini showed Wednesday that he has some fire.  He slugged linebacker Brad Jones after a play and knocked his helmet to the ground.
