State officials are urging drivers to think about ways to make their commute to work safer. Major Dan Lonsdorf with the state division of transportation safety says it's up to individual drivers to help make the morning and evening commute safe for everyone else on the road. Lonsdorf says driving is a dangerous thing we do every day, and there are ways to prevent accidents from taking place.

Wisconsin is taking part this week in a National Drive Safely to Work campaign. Lonsdorf says the focus is on what individuals can do to make roads safer. He says most crashes are the result of a bad choice made by a driver. The state is urging drivers to minimize distractions, watch their speed, and always wear a safety belt.
