The Racine Unified School District is facing the task of replacing dozens of computers that were stolen in burglaries at two elementary schools and a middle school. Nearly 60 computers and related equipment were taken from the schools, many of which were brand new.

Board of Education President Tony Baumgardt says additional security measures have been taken. Those include a stepped up police presence around the schools, along with additional security in the buildings.

Teachers and staff have also been instructed to make sure windows are locked and computer carts are stored in locked rooms with motion sensors.

Baumgardt says it will take awhile to replace the stolen computers. He says insurance should cover most of the losses.
