Milwaukee Police want state lawmakers to make changes to the concealed carry law, to be tougher on straw purchases and on those who carry a hidden weapon multiple times without a permit. The police department also wants to require those with three misdemeanors to be barred from obtaining a permit, like felons are currently.
However, Nik Clark of Wisconsin Carry, a gun rights group, says a number of actions in Wisconsin can lead to misdemeanors. He brings up an example of a protestor who’s been cited multiple times for disturbing the peace: “All of a sudden here is a person who can’t carry a gun. That’s one of many scenarios.”
Clark is opposed to the proposals saying they can lead to “unintended consequences” in which law-abiding citizens will be unable to have a weapon.
