A Wisconsin Congressman is worried record gas prices are crippling our economy.

The price at the pump continues to climb, and many are worried it will keep going up. Congressman Steve Kagen (D-WI) says the nation is nearing a breaking point when it comes to filling their tanks. He's calling on President Bush to act quickly on efforts to reduce rising gas prices.

Kagen says the President should release fuel from the strategic petroleum reserve to help increase the supply. He also says the U.S. should stop putting oil into the reserve, which he believes would lower price at the pump by about a quarter a gallon.

The Wisconsin Democrat says people will go out of business if the government ignores the crisis.

In the long term, Kagen says the nation to invest more in renewable energy options.
