It's another disappointing budget for Wisconsin's counties. That's the view of Wisconsin Counties Association executive director Mark O'Connell, who sees another short term solution with no discussion about the state's long term future. "The decisions we make today for this two year period are going to affect our state in ten or twenty years," notes O'Connell. "We've had none of those discussions."

The best that can be said about this two year spending plan? O'Connell says at least it's done. "We will stumble through another two year period. But it does not reduce the need to have a much more visionary discussion, including county government."

O'Connell says counties are especially disappointed by no increase in state funding for courts, and no increase in shared revenues.
