The jury in a Fond du Lac County trial will have to decide today whether a former Fond du Lac city official was a willing participant in a false-billing embezzlement scheme.

First Mark Beveridge’s lawyer, Michael O’Rourke, will give his closing arguments and District Attorney Dan Kaminsky will have a chance to rebut them.

Kaminsky spent the better part of an hour and half on his closing arguments Thursday afternoon. He said the 65-year-old North Fond du Lac man was a willing participant in a scheme that has already seen four others sentenced to jail, prison, probation and restitution.

Kaminsky said the former head of Fond du Lac’s Management Information Systems Department may not have taken home as much equipment for personal use as others, but he knew what was going on.

Beveridge is charged with 21 felony and 4 misdemeanors.
