Three people were killed and another person was seriously injured, in a two-car head-on crash near Mount Horeb. Sgt. Chris Larsh with the Dane County Sheriff's Department said the driver of a westbound car lost control around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, crossed the grassy median, and struck a car traveling eastbound near Highway PD.
Two occupants of the out of control car were ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. A third occupant of that car was also pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other car was taken by helicopter to the hospital with serious injuries. The names and hometowns of the people involved in the crash have not been released. The crash closed the highway in both directions for about four hours. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Larsh says investigators want to hear from people who may have been in the area at the time.
UPDATE : The Dane County Coroner has identified the victims as: driver Janet Indermuehle, age 48, her son, Daniel J. Hall, age 15, and passenger Tiffany Marie Kastner, age 14. All three victims are from Potosi.
