Wisconsin Department of Transportation and Menominee tribal officials are trying to pump flood water off of Highway 47/55 in Keshena to reopen the road.
The DOT closed the major highway in the Menominee reservation on Tuesday after the Wolf River spilled over the road.
DOT maintenance supervisor Brent Matthews says they’re moving the water over some barricades, and into the river, hoping that it doesn’t come back. He says if the weather gets much colder, they could run into freezing problems.
Matthews says the highway will remain closed at least through much of Thursday.
The National Weather Service says flooding will remain a problem until at least tomorrow, and could get worse over the weekend.
