A ten year-old babysitter accused of abusing a toddler appeared in Rock County Court on Friday, and details on the injuries sustained by the infant were made public. The ten year-old remains in custody in the non-secure section of the Rock County Juvenile Detention Center. According to the criminal complaint, the Beloit girl is accused of giving the toddler an abusive head injury caused by shaking or slamming. A doctor says the injuries to the toddler, which include bruises nearly covering her body, are similar to those caused when a child is hit by a car. When interviewed by police, the ten year-old said she grabbed the toddler by the hair and pulled her out of her crib. She also told police she hit the toddler with toys, a bat and a belt. The criminal complaint states the babysitter also picked up the toddler and threw her into a bathtub. A judge has ordered a competency hearing for the girl.
