Critics of the state's contract to develop a statewide voter registration system are not surprised, by news of another delay . Now a year past a federal deadline for implementation, it's been reported that the system being developed by Accenture Corporation will not be ready for the Spring election, on April 3.
State Representative Mark Pocan , a Madison Democrat, has been a persistent critic of the process which awarded the contract to Accenture, as has Mike McCabe with the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign . "I don't know why the state hasn't sued Accenture, and sough to get money back that we've poured down this rathole," says McCabe. Pocan notes Wisconsin is the only state that still has a contract with Accenture, and says it's clear that the company lacked the capacity for the project. He also predicts it's just a matter of time before the state does end up in a lawsuit with Accenture.
